DriveSmart is a free program which helps you practice your skills and become a more experienced and safer driver as you work towards getting your probationary licence. It is the perfect partner to getting hands-on experience in a car.

The training program takes you through a range of scenarios and quizzes where decisions are based on safe driving practices. These exercises also increase your skills, all with the ultimate aim of helping reduce the number of young people killed or injured on our roads.

The program is based on three years of research by MUARC (the Monash University Accident Research Centre) using state-of-the-art driving simulators. Many of the techniques used in DriveSmart have been adapted from techniques used to train air force pilots.

Scientific studies have shown that completing the DriveSmart program helps develop safer driving skills and that it is important to keep with the program to get the best results.

Learner drivers should have had some supervised driving practice before starting DriveSmart. While about 40 hours of practice is ideal, any time is a good time to start using DriveSmart to support your hands-on driving practice.

And don’t forget, if you complete the DriveSmart program, you will automatically be entered into a draw to win great prizes! Good luck!
